Student Stories
Teens will always talk about sex — that's a given. What they will say is less certain. Just like a sponge absorbing water, teens soak up messages about sex from all around them — from media, friends, parents and teachers — and what goes in will come out in their words and their actions. While some teens talk about hooking up, those who have learned from Amplify talk about waiting — and do wait! Amplify Youth Development partners with you to positively shape what teens learn about sex, teaching them the value of abstinence. “I really liked your activities and your talks about how to deal with relationships. We get sex talks, but I’ve never had a talk about the relationship part of it. I’m in a ‘relationship’ with a boy at college who wants to be my first time. And a part of me wants to, but after your talk I’m no longer considering it because I know it’s not the right thing.
