Ultrasound

Ultrasound is a powerful tool that allows a woman to "see" her unborn child.  Many women acknowledge that they finally realize they are going to be a mom when they see that heart beat and the movement of life. Ultrasounds inform women and give them knowledge about their pregnancy and the child hidden within.

Ultrasound services are provided free to women who are actively in danger of choosing abortion or who are likely to choose abortion because of their circumstances. CareNet has a medical staff of volunteer doctors and licensed ultrasound technicians that are able to provide ultrasounds at all four CareNet counseling centers 6 days a week.

70% of women who have ultrasounds at CareNet decide to continue their pregnancy.

An Ultrasound Success Story

Samantha, 19, came to CareNet for a pregnancy test stating that it "would not be cool" if she was pregnant right now. Her test was positive and Samantha told her counselor that she was considering abortion because she would have to tell her parents. Her counselor immediately set up an ultrasound and that made the difference. Samantha told her counselor that her "attitude had completely changed". Samantha had convinced herself that her pregnancy might not be real, but after seeing her baby on ultrasound, she was really excited and told her parents who supported her. Ultrasound made Samantha's baby real for her.
