History

Carenet was founded in 1981 by pastors and concerned laypeople from 55 local churches who wished to do something positive in response to the legalization of abortion.  They decided to start a ministry to assist women in unplanned pregnancies. 

A hot line was established that rang in a mechanics garage in Melrose Park and in 1984 office space in a strip mall was given to CareNet by Fountain of Life Church. 

CareNet relocated to its own facility in 1985.  Locations have been added and today CareNet is in Wood Dale (2001) Downers Grove (2005) Glen Ellyn (2005) and Naperville (2010). 

Services have been added as well in addition to the original pregnancy counseling services: abstinence education until marriage (2000); ultrasound (2002); parenting services (2003); nurse manager (2007).
